The Recording Academy is coming on STRONG with their online presence this year — in addition to a massive TV and outdoor campaign spearheaded by TBWA/Chiat/Day and the robust microsite WeAreAllFans built from fans’ YouTube / Twitter /Facebook postings of Grammy-nominated artists (flash-based, built on PHP, 200k pageviews / 90k uniques, more detail at Mashable and Billboard) and its real-time social media barometer dubbed the FanBuzz Visualizer (powered by Visible Technologies), GRAMMY Live! launches 72 hours of online broadcasting of live videos, photos, news reports, and personalized updates from various events and parties leading up to Sunday night’s red carpet and awards show.
The festivities kick off Friday, Jan. 29, 2:30 p.m. PST with The Academy’s Social Media Rock Stars Summit at The GRAMMY Museum®. GRAMMY’s blogger program will feature input from nominees, artist Shepard Fairey, writer David Wild (Rolling Stone, Huffington Post) and a variety of genre-specific music bloggers.
The Recording Academy has also launched an iPhone App that allows participants to guess winners in advance and participate in trivia contests. In addition to finding content on the Grammy site & microsite, you can connect via Facebook (103k fans — org posts + fan comments), Twitter (37k followers — tons of insider tweets + retweets of nominee tweets), and YouTube (1.7mm views for all the content + a preview of the 3-D Michael Jackson event), and MySpace (805 friends, mostly feed of YouTube & Twitter content).
